DoH Exam Registration 2026: How to Apply, Step by Step Application Guide

The Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi, previously known as HAAD (Health Authority Abu Dhabi), licenses physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, TCAM practitioners and allied health professionals in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Most international applicants have to pass a DOH licensing exam, which is delivered by Pearson VUE, not Prometric. Some titles are exempt under the qualification rules, and DOH decides this when it reviews your file.

Registration runs entirely through TAMM, Abu Dhabi's government services portal. Below is the order of steps as DOH sets them out now, with the official time frame for each one.

What is DOH /HAAD exam registration process?

STEP 1
Create a TAMM profile and your UIN
Sign in to TAMM with UAE PASS and generate your Unique Identification Number (UIN). You need the UIN for every DOH licensing service.
STEP 2
Submit a new healthcare professional licence application
In TAMM, choose your category and title (GP, specialist, consultant, nurse, pharmacist and so on), upload the documents requested and pay the application fee. If you already have a job offer, attach it here.
STEP 3
Complete primary source verification (PSV)
Upload your degree, experience, licences and other documents to the verification agency for checking at source. The DOH DataFlow process page covers documents, fees and delays.
STEP 4
DOH review and approval
With a positive PSV report, DOH reviews your file, confirms your title and decides whether you need a computer-based test, an oral exam or an exemption. You are notified through TAMM.
STEP 5
Pay the booking fee and schedule with Pearson VUE

STEP 6
Sit the exam and get your result

Link to a facility and get your licence
An Abu Dhabi facility links you to its licence (within 3 months, or the application expires), security clearance follows, and you pay the issuance fee. The licence is then issued electronically and you can print it.

How long does DOH registration take?

DOH publishes a time frame for each step. Added together, the stages before the exam come to about 30 working days when nothing is missing:

Real timelines are longer for most people. Verification depends on how quickly your university and employers reply, and unclear documents or problems in experience letters add a few weeks. Then there is your own exam date. Many candidates spend 6 to 10 weeks studying before they book, which fits comfortably inside the 6-month window if you start preparing while PSV is running.

If the 6 months pass without a PASS, the application closes and you need a new one. Do not let approval sit unused.

How to speed up registration process?

You cannot make DOH or DataFlow work faster, but you can avoid giving them reasons to stop:

  • Upload clear, complete colour scans of every document at the first submission.
  • Tell your university and employers in advance that the verification agency will contact them.
  • Keep your name identical across passport, degree, experience letters and licences, or add proof of any change.
  • Reply to DataFlow and DOH queries quickly. A query left for a week costs you a week.
  • Check your application status on TAMM and DataFlow regularly instead of waiting for an email.
  • Get a fresh good standing certificate close to submission, as it must not be older than 6 months.

Which exam will DOH ask me to take?

It depends on your title. General Practitioners sit a computer-based test. Specialists and consultants in the larger specialties, such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Family Medicine and Dermatology, also sit a CBT. Most other specialties take an oral exam. Exams are in English. What is DOH(HAAD) exam syllabus?

The syllabus varies by category and title. A GP paper is mostly clinical scenarios across internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, surgery and emergency care, while specialty papers stay within the specialty. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the DOH exam booked through Prometric or Pearson VUE?

Pearson VUE. After DOH approves your application, you pay the booking fee in TAMM, then schedule your test date and centre on the Pearson VUE website. Prometric delivers the DHA and MOHAP exams, not the DOH exam.

Can I register for the DOH exam from outside the UAE?

Yes. Applicants outside the UAE can create a TAMM profile and UIN using a mobile number and email, complete verification online, and sit the exam at a Pearson VUE centre abroad where the DOH exam is offered. You do not need a UAE job offer to start, although you must link to an Abu Dhabi facility before the licence is issued.

How long is DOH exam approval valid?

Six months from approval for the computer-based and oral exams. You can book a new attempt within that window if a date is available. If you have not passed by the end of it, the application closes and you need to apply again.

How long is a DOH exam pass valid?

DOH states that a PASS is valid for 5 years, subject to the qualification requirements. A long gap in practice can still mean you have to sit the exam again.

Which category should I apply under if I have a postgraduate qualification?

Apply for the title your qualification and experience support under the Unified PQR, for example specialist rather than GP. DOH confirms the final title during its review. If your postgraduate degree is not accepted for a specialist title, you can still apply as a GP on your basic degree.

Whether you get the specialist title depends on how your qualification is classified in the PQR and on your experience, which DOH checks during review.
