PLAB test eligibility criteria for MOHAP exam
Question: I am a British / Iraqi doctor resident now in Manchester /UK , recently passed the PLAB test and made a clinical attachment in one of the hospitals in UK. I wish to apply an SHO or GP job in UAE. Is the MOHAP test is still needed after passing the PLAB test inorder to be eligible to apply for a job in UAE?. Thank you very much for your help and look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Sarah Al-Bayah
Answer: PLAB alone is only a test of competence to practice in the UK. Passing PLAB 1 & 2 gives you eligibility to register with the GMC (General Medical Council, UK), but unless you have GMC full registration, MOHAP does not accept it for exemption.
After GMC registration, is DataFlow still required?
Yes, DataFlow verification process is mandatory for all healthcare professionals, even if you have GMC registration. Exemption only applies to written Prometric exam, not to documentation process.
After GMC registration, is clinical experience also required?
Yes, even with GMC registration, you will be required to have atleast 2 years of post-internship experience for GPs.
