Family Physician/Family Medicine Specialist for MOHAP exam UAE
To be able to apply as Family Physician/Family Medicine Specialist for MOHAP(Ministry of Health and Prevention) exam, candidates should fulfill the following requirements.
- Required Qualification: Should have completed MBBS/MD + Internship/House-job + Postgraduate specialty training in Family Medicine(e.g., MRCGP, MD/DNB in Family Medicine, Arab Board in Family Medicine)
- Required Experience: Should have completed 3-4 years of residency/training program + Specialty certification.
- Pass Exam: Should have passed the Family Medicine specialty exam unless holding a Tier-1 qualification (like MRCGP, CCFP, ABFM, etc.) which may qualify for exemption.
What is the role of Family Medicine specialist in UAE?
In UAE, a family medicine doctor is recognized as a specialist doctor who provides specialized primary care at a higher competency, unlike General Practitioner(GP) who provides general primary care.
Family medicine doctor also play a key role in chronic disease management and prevention, which is a top priority in UAE health strategy.
Family Medicine specialists are preferred over GPs in many private and government facilities because of their broader scope and specialist training.
