FCPS Exam Questions Answered
Doctors and dentists have asked us about re-sitting FCPS Part I, applying from abroad, the syllabus, exam dates and results. Below are the key facts for 2027, followed by our replies to each reader's question, checked against the latest CPSP notices.
FCPS Part I key facts for 2027

Dates: 5 January, 6 April, 6 July and 5 October 2027. You may sit three of the four sessions in one year.

Team Interface: FCPS Part I is held four times a year, and you may sit three sessions in any one year, so you can re-apply for the next session. Repeaters apply online on the CPSP website using the repeater form and their enrolment number. The January 2027 notice lists exam centres in Pakistan only, so you would normally travel to sit the exam; CPSP also has regional offices in Saudi Arabia, Nepal and the UK, so check the CPSP website for any overseas option. Team Interface: FCPS Part I tests the basic medical sciences applied to clinical practice, in two papers of 100 single best answer MCQs. Paper II is specific to the subject group you choose, such as Medicine & Allied or Surgery & Allied. CPSP does not publish a required book list, so use standard basic-science textbooks and plenty of MCQ practice. Team Interface: CPSP has published its 2027 schedule. FCPS Part I is on 5 January, 6 April, 6 July and 5 October 2027. The Intermediate Module and FCPS Part II in the major subjects are on 16 February and 17 August 2027, and FCPS Part II in the other subjects on 13 April and 28 September 2027. Dentists sit FCPS Part I in the Dentistry group with a BDS registered with the PMDC.

Team Interface: CPSP has a regional centre in Saudi Arabia and has listed an FCPS Part I application form for Saudi Arabia, but the January 2027 notice names centres in Pakistan only, so check the CPSP website for the current Saudi option. Wherever you sit, you need an MBBS registered with the PMDC, a completed one-year house job and valid PMDC registration. You apply online in two steps and upload scans of your original documents as PDFs. If some permanent certificates are not ready, CPSP can give provisional permission, but your result is released only after you submit them.

Apply online on the CPSP website, pay the Rs. 25,050 fee and upload your documents as PDFs. The exam is computer-based, with two papers of 100 single best answer MCQs, two hours each. Team Interface: FCPS Part I results are shown in your CPSP e-Portal account, so log in there first. If you sat on provisional documents, CPSP releases the result only after you submit your permanent certificates. If it is still missing, contact the CPSP examinations department at examinations@cpsp.edu.pk or fcps1@cpsp.edu.pk, or call 111-606-606. If you think your marks are wrong, you can ask for a recount for Rs. 2,000; papers are not re-marked.
