With only three, each one has to be planned: when to book, what to fix in your preparation and what paperwork could cost you the seat.

How many attempts for MOHAP exam are allowed?
MOHAP states that the maximum number of attempts for its exams is three, counted per category, and that a fourth attempt is not allowed. The limit belongs to you and your professional title, not to a job offer, so changing hospitals or emirates within MOHAP does not reset it.

How to re-sit /re-attempt for MOHAP exam?
A reattempt is not a new application as long as your MOHAP evaluation is still open. In practice it looks like this:
There is no rule that you must wait between MOHAP attempts. That does not mean you should book the next free seat. Rebooking within a week or two of a fail, with the same preparation, is the commonest way candidates lose a second attempt.
What if one could not attend the exam, will that also be failed attempt?
For MOHAP, yes in effect. Prometric's MOH page states that the UAE counts cancelled or no-show appointments as one of the three attempts. You also lose the fee and have to book and pay again. This is different from DHA and DOH, where a no-show is not counted as an attempt, so do not rely on advice written for Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
If you think you may not make the date, use the Reschedule option on the Prometric site as early as possible. The notice period and any change fee are shown there when you reschedule.
Failed MOHAP exam twice? What now?
After two fails you have one MOHAP attempt left in that category. Do not book it until you have found out why the first two went wrong, and do not let anything outside the exam cost you that seat. The two sections below cover both.
How to make your third attempt successful?
You get no score breakdown, so the first job is to rebuild one yourself. Straight after each exam most candidates remember which topics felt shaky. Write those down, then test them with questions before you plan anything else.
A simple rhythm that works for most repeat candidates over 6 to 8 weeks: one week of diagnostic blocks and an error log, four to five weeks on the weak systems with daily mixed timed sets, then a final week of full mocks and revision of the error log only. Rule out the non-exam problems
Before you book, make sure nothing procedural can cost you the attempt. Check that your eligibility still holds for your title, that your DataFlow report and documents are complete (see MOHAP DataFlow requirements), and that any gap in clinical practice is within MOHAP's limit (see MOHAP clinical gap policy). Take valid photo ID matching your booking name to the test centre. If anything about your case is unclear, ask MOHAP before you book, not after.
What happens if you fail the third MOHAP attempt?
MOHAP will not give a fourth attempt, but its evaluation service says you may apply for the exam through another health authority. Under the Unified PQR (sections 1.5.4 to 1.5.5), after three failed attempts you may be granted one last attempt with a different UAE authority, DHA (Dubai) or DOH (Abu Dhabi). It is not automatic. That authority decides under its own rules, and you must declare all previous attempts when you apply.

Does failing MOHAP exam affect future licensing chances?
A fail does not stop you from being licensed once you pass. The evaluation certificate is issued on a pass, and the licence is then requested by your employing facility in the usual way. What a fail does change is your margin:
- Attempts are counted across the UAE. DHA and DOH ask for your full attempt history, so a MOHAP fail is not a clean slate elsewhere.
- Each failed attempt narrows your options. After three, your only UAE route is one possible last attempt with another authority.
- Time passes. If you are not working while you re-sit, your practice gap grows, and a gap over 2 years brings extra PQR requirements.
So the real cost of a fail is fewer chances and more time, not a mark on the licence itself.
What happens if my eligibility expires before reattempt?
MOHAP does not publish a fixed validity for the evaluation or eligibility, so do not assume a number you have read elsewhere. If your file has closed, you apply again through the MOHAP evaluation service, pay the evaluation fee again (AED 500 for physicians and dentists) and upload current documents. Expect to need:
- a new Good Standing Certificate dated within the past six months
- updated experience certificates if you have worked since
- your previous DataFlow report, which MOHAP asks you to upload with the application (ask whether a fresh verification is needed in your case)

Do I need to pay the Prometric fee again after failing?
Yes. Each attempt is booked and paid for separately, and a missed or cancelled booking is not refunded. You pay the evaluation fee again only if you have to submit a new MOHAP application.
