MOHAP Exam Pattern/Format Quick Summary
The MOHAP (MOH UAE) licensing exam is a Prometric computer-based test of single best answer MCQs, mostly built on short clinical scenarios from your own category's syllabus. Results are shown as Pass or Fail with a 60% minimum passing score, and you get a maximum of three attempts per category.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) exam checks that international healthcare professionals have the clinical knowledge to practise safely in MOHAP-licensed facilities. It is taken by doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals, each sitting a paper for their own category. Prometric delivers it as a computer-based test (CBT) at its test centres in the UAE and in many other countries.

Two things in that table matter more than the rest. First, the pass mark is a percentage, so every correct answer helps and a blank one never does. Second, the questions are scenario based. You read a short case, often with vitals and a test result, and pick the next step, the diagnosis or the first-line treatment. Pure recall questions are fewer than most people expect.

What is MOHAP Exam Syllabus?
The syllabus depends on the category you apply for. MOHAP does not publish a detailed blueprint, so the topics below are the areas the exam is built around for each group.
Syllabus for General Practitioners (GP) & Specialties
The GP paper covers common and acute problems you would meet in primary care and emergency settings: internal medicine, emergency medicine, paediatrics, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, ENT, dermatology, psychiatry and family medicine, plus medical ethics. What is MOHAP exam syllabus for Nurses?

Question 1: Internal Medicine
A 68-year-old man with treated hypertension presents with 2 weeks of intermittent palpitations. He is haemodynamically stable. ECG shows atrial fibrillation with a ventricular rate of 88/min. Echocardiography shows no significant valvular disease, and his renal function is normal. He has no history of stroke, diabetes or heart failure. What is the most appropriate long-term measure to prevent stroke?
A) Aspirin 81 mg daily
B) Apixaban
C) Aspirin plus clopidogrel
D) No antithrombotic therapy
Correct answer: B) Apixaban
His CHA2DS2-VASc score is 2 (age 65 to 74 and hypertension), so oral anticoagulation is recommended. In non-valvular atrial fibrillation, a direct oral anticoagulant such as apixaban is preferred over warfarin. Aspirin, alone or with clopidogrel, is not recommended for stroke prevention in AF because it is less effective and still causes bleeding.
Question 2: Pediatrics
A 2-year-old boy has had a runny nose for 2 days and developed a barking cough and hoarse voice last night. In the clinic he is alert and playful. There is no stridor at rest, only a soft stridor when he cries. There is no chest wall recession, and SpO2 is 98% on room air. What is the most appropriate management?

B) Nebulised adrenaline and hospital admission
C) Oral amoxicillin for 5 days

Correct answer: A) A single dose of oral dexamethasone and discharge with safety-net advice
This is mild croup (viral laryngotracheobronchitis): barking cough with no stridor at rest and no respiratory distress. A single oral dose of dexamethasone (0.15 mg/kg) reduces symptoms and return visits. Nebulised adrenaline is kept for moderate to severe croup with stridor at rest or distress. Antibiotics do not help a viral illness, and imaging is not needed for a typical presentation.

How should I prepare for this exam format?
Prepare the way the exam is set. Read less, answer more. Work through MCQs in timed blocks so that reading a case and choosing an answer becomes quick, and review every explanation, including for questions you got right by guessing. Keep a short notebook of first-line treatments and red flags, because that is what scenario questions keep coming back to.

Is the MOHAP exam pattern the same as DHA and DOH?
The style is similar: computer-based clinical MCQs. The details differ. DHA also uses Prometric, while DOH Abu Dhabi uses Pearson VUE and sets its own pass mark. Each authority has its own application, so a MOHAP pass does not automatically license you in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
