HAAD/DOH medical license as GP doctor, requirements
Getting a DOH(Department of Health, Abu Dhabi) medical license as a GP (General Practitioner) involves several steps. Initially it requires to fulfill eligibility criteria by applicant. All your credentials are required to be verified by DataFlow verification process. Furthermore, most GPs must pass a DOH licensing exam (or sometimes an oral assessment) to be licensed. In the end, after successfully passing the exam, your employer (the hospital/clinic that hired you) has to activate the license via TAMM.
What happens if I stopped practicing for more than 2 years?
For a healthcare professional who has a break in clinical practice of more than 2 years triggers extra requirements of completing CME / CPD (Continuing Medical Education) credits which must be relevant to your specialty (i.e., in the field you used to practice) as per DOH's rules. For non-UAE nationals, having a gap of more than 5 years can be a barrier: generally, they won't be able to apply for a license if the break is more than 5 years.
