The MOHAP medical license exam is a Prometric-based licensing examination required for healthcare professionals who want to work in MOHAP-regulated emirates in UAE such as Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah.

What is MOHAP medical license exam for UAE?

All the health professionals who seek to work in many of UAE Emirates must appear for MOHAP (Ministry of Health & Prevention) examination, formerly known as MOH UAE, and get qualified for work in UAE. Evaluation of the below categories is done in MOH Examination and separate exams conducted for the following professions.

  1. Physicians and Dentists
  2. Pharmacists and Assistants
  3. Nurses and Midwives
  4. Technicians
  5. Physicians, Practitioners and Technicians of the Complementary and Alternative

Threre are three(3) different Health Ministries functioning in UAE;
1)MOHAP which is Ministry of Health passing the MOH you are allowed to work in 5 emirates - Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah but not in Dubai and Abudhabi.
2)DHA - Dubai Health Authority (previously known as DOHMS - Department of Health and Medical Services) DHA registration is required for working in Dubai.
3) DOH (Department of Health), Abu Dhabi, previously know as HAAD, is required to be pass by healthcare professionals to work in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

What is MOHAP exam process?

  • You can start through creating an account on MOHAP licensing portal.
  • Upload required documents.
  • Having educational certificates as per the requirement of your health category.
  • Having experience certificate. Minimum requirement of two(2) years recent experience for most of the health categories.
  • Good Standing Certificate (GSC)
  • Recent photographs
  • Completing Dataflow process to verify your educational and other credentials.
  • One above process completed, one can register for the Prometric exam.
  • Upon successfully passing the exam, you will be issued an Eligibility letter.
  • Apply for job to convert issued eligibility letter into MOH license.

How difficult Is the MOHAP exam?

This exam is generally considered moderately challenging to difficult, depending on:

  • Your profession
  • Clinical experience
  • Preparation quality
  • Familiarity with Prometric-style MCQs
  • English medical terminology skills

This exam is usually manageable for candidates with:

  • Strong clinical fundamentals
  • Recent hospital experience
  • Regular MCQ practice

However, candidates often find the exam difficult who:

  • Rely only on memorization
  • Have long clinical gaps
  • Have weak fundamentals
  • Do very little MCQ practice

Is MOHAP easier than DHA or DOH?

Difficulty perception varies. Many candidates feel MOHAP and DHA are similar overall. However, DOH may sometimes feel more clinically intensive for some specialties, but preparation quality matters much more than authority differences.
