DHA Preparation Sources Quick Summary

DHA does not publish official model papers or past papers for its Prometric exams. The most reliable preparation source is a question bank written for your own title and syllabus (GP, specialist, dentist, nurse, pharmacist or allied health), used together with one standard clinical reference book and timed mock tests in the final weeks.

People search for "DHA model papers" because they want to see the real exam before they sit it. That is a fair wish, but it does not exist in an official form. DHA (Dubai Health Authority) does not release its question papers, and Prometric, which delivers the computer-based test, does not sell preparation material for it. What you can get is practice material built around the DHA Syllabus and the question style candidates report after the exam.

Are there official DHA model papers or past papers?

No. DHA keeps its exam questions confidential and reports only PASS or FAIL in Sheryan. Anything sold as an "official DHA past paper" is either a recall collection (questions remembered by earlier candidates) or a publisher's own mock exam. Both can help, as long as you know what you are using.

Recall questions
Written from memory by candidates after the exam. Good for seeing which topics come up and how the scenarios are phrased. The details are often incomplete, so check every answer against a current guideline.
Model papers and mock exams
Full-length timed sets made by a question bank or tutor. Useful for stamina and pacing. Their value depends on how closely they follow the DHA syllabus for your title.
Subject-wise MCQ banks
Questions sorted by system or subject, with explanations. This is where most of the learning happens, because you can attack weak areas one by one.

Which preparation source should you use for your profession?

The exam is different for each title, so the first rule is simple: practise for the exam you are actually sitting. A GP question bank will not prepare a dentist, and a nursing book will not prepare a pharmacist. MCQ questions are available for various professions on the Interface Medical Education website, including Physicians and Dentists.

How should you use past papers and MCQs?

Use MCQ resources such as Interface Medical Education to get used to the question format, to handle time pressure and to find your weak areas. Practising regularly and reading the explanations, including for the questions you got right, improves both speed and accuracy.

A pattern that works for most candidates:

STEP 1
Read the syllabus for your title
List the subjects and their weight. Spend most of your time where most of the marks are.
STEP 2
Work subject by subject in tutor mode
Do 30 to 50 questions a day and read every explanation. Note the facts you keep missing.
STEP 3
Fill the gaps from one reference book
When an explanation is not enough, look the topic up in a standard text. Do not read books cover to cover.
STEP 4
Finish with timed mock papers and recalls
In the last 2 to 3 weeks, sit full-length timed sets. The DHA GP CBT, for example, is 150 MCQs in 3 hours, so you need about 70 seconds per question.
Practise in exam conditions
Recalls show you the topics. Timed practice gets you through the paper. Try 5,000 DHA GP MCQs with explanations and mock exam mode.

How do you judge if a preparation source is good?

Before you pay for anything, check a few points. A good source:

  • is written for DHA and for your title, not a general "Gulf exam" bundle;
  • explains why the right answer is right and why the others are wrong;
  • follows current international guidelines, so the answers are not out of date;
  • lets you practise in timed mode and track your weak subjects;
  • offers a free demo so you can judge the question quality yourself.

Be careful with anything that promises the "exact questions" of next month's exam. Recalls repeat themes, not the same wording, and the exam is updated over time.

Question 1: Cardiology

A 72-year-old woman with treated hypertension comes to clinic with 2 weeks of palpitations. ECG confirms atrial fibrillation with a ventricular rate of 88/min on bisoprolol. She has no valve disease, no history of bleeding, and her renal function is normal. Which of the following is the most appropriate treatment to prevent stroke?

A) Aspirin 75 mg daily
B) Apixaban
C) No antithrombotic treatment
D) Aspirin plus clopidogrel

Correct answer: B) Apixaban

Her CHA2DS2-VASc score is 3 (age 65 to 74, hypertension, female sex), and 2 even without the sex point (CHA2DS2-VA). At this level oral anticoagulation is recommended. In non-valvular atrial fibrillation a direct oral anticoagulant such as apixaban is preferred over warfarin. Aspirin alone, or with clopidogrel, is not recommended for stroke prevention in AF.

Question 2: Pediatrics

An 8-month-old boy has had episodes of inconsolable crying for 12 hours. During each episode, every 15 to 20 minutes, he draws his legs up to his abdomen, and he is quiet in between. He has vomited twice and has just passed a stool mixed with blood and mucus. A sausage-shaped mass is felt in the right upper abdomen. He is alert, with a normal pulse and blood pressure and no signs of peritonitis. Which of the following is the most appropriate initial investigation?

A) Plain abdominal X-ray
B) Abdominal ultrasound
C) CT abdomen with contrast
D) Upper gastrointestinal contrast study

Correct answer: B) Abdominal ultrasound

This is intussusception. Ultrasound is the investigation of choice: it is accurate, quick and avoids radiation, and it typically shows a target or doughnut sign. In a stable child without peritonitis or perforation, it is followed by air or contrast enema reduction. Surgery is for failed reduction, perforation or peritonitis. A plain X-ray may be normal and cannot exclude the diagnosis.

Is the DHA exam similar to MOHAP or other GCC exams?

The clinical content overlaps, because all of them test safe practice. The blueprint, number of questions and rules differ by authority and title, so prepare from material written for the exam you are booking.
