MOH Exam UAE Information: Quick Summary
Physicians and dentists follow the same MOHAP route: an online evaluation (AED 500), DataFlow verification, then the Prometric exam if the evaluation officer requires it, passed at 60% with a maximum of 3 attempts. The main differences are the title you apply under and its experience rule: GPs and general dentists need 2 years of licensed experience after internship, while specialists and consultants follow the PQR tier for their degree.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) is the federal healthcare body in the UAE. It regulates licensing exams for healthcare professionals who want to practise in the emirates other than Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which have their own regulators (DHA and DOH). Since July 2025, private and local government facilities in Sharjah are licensed by the Sharjah Health Authority, so check who licenses your employer before you apply.

Internship and training posts do not count towards the 2 years for GPs and general dentists, and a gap in practice of more than 2 years brings extra requirements (see MOHAP clinical gap policy). Some candidates are exempt from the exam; check MOHAP exam exemption criteria before you book.
What are the stages of the MOH Prometric exam process?
The order is the same for both professions. Physicians and dentists get stuck at the same two points: the DataFlow report and finding an exam date.

What does the MOH Prometric exam test for physicians and dentists?
Both papers are clinical MCQs at the level of your title. A GP paper covers medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and emergency care, with most questions built on a short case. A general dentist paper covers restorative dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry and oral medicine. MOHAP does not publish a fixed question count or blueprint, so prepare by topic rather than by a rumoured number. Which emirates does a MOHAP licence cover?
MOHAP licenses healthcare professionals for the emirates outside Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Since July 2025 private and local government facilities in Sharjah are licensed by the Sharjah Health Authority, so confirm the regulator with your employer.
Are there fixed MOH exam dates?
No. Once your evaluation and DataFlow are complete and an exam is required, you book a seat on Prometric's MOH page. Dates depend on seat availability at the test centre you choose.
How much experience do GPs and general dentists need for MOHAP?
Two years of clinical experience after internship, counted from the date your licence was issued. Training posts do not count, and a gap in practice must not exceed 2 years without extra PQR requirements.
Can nurses, pharmacists and technicians take the MOH exam too?
Yes. They apply through the same MOHAP evaluation service under their own category. The evaluation fee is AED 400 for nurses and midwives and AED 300 for allied health, and the documents differ by profession.
How many attempts do I get for the MOH Prometric exam?
A maximum of 3 per category, and a cancelled or no-show booking counts as one. A fourth MOHAP attempt is not allowed, though DHA or DOH may allow one last attempt under the Unified PQR.
